Selection guide for steady-state thermal conductivity tester

Please refer to the following steps to select the thermal conductivity meter product and our company's thermal conductivity meter model:

(1) Determine the measurement method for thermal conductivity:

Firstly, it is necessary to determine which method to use to measure the thermal conductivity of the material. At present, commercial instruments are mainly divided into two categories of measurement methods, one is steady-state method and the other is transient method. The commercially available instruments that use the steady-state method are mainly the thermal protection plate method, which can be further divided into the double plate thermal protection plate method (requiring two identical specimens) and the single plate thermal protection plate method (requiring only one specimen). Commercial instruments that use transient measurement methods mainly include hot wire method, planar heat source method, and laser strobe method. The following table compares several main technical indicators of the thermal protection plate method and the transient method.

When choosing a method for measuring thermal conductivity, please refer to the following three points:

1. If your unit is a testing institution with certain testing qualifications, the measurement method of the thermal conductivity meter can generally be determined based on the national or industry standards that your testing object is based on. As specified in the national standard B/T10294-2008 (Determination of steady-state thermal resistance and related characteristics of insulation materials), it is the steady-state method - heat protection plate method.

2. If your institution is a higher education institution or research institute, your choice of thermal conductivity meter is generally not limited by international, national, or industry standards. You can select the measurement method based on the specific requirements of scientific research, taking into account the range of thermal conductivity and accuracy requirements of the tested object.

3. If your unit is a production unit of materials (such as insulation materials) and thermal conductivity meters are used in product quality inspection, it is necessary to select the measurement method based on national or industry standards, as well as your unit's specific requirements for measurement range, measurement accuracy, and measurement speed.

(2) Choose the appropriate thermal conductivity meter model from our company's products

1. For testing units or material production units, the thermal conductivity meter model can usually be selected according to the national industry standards applicable to different products of our company.

2. If you are a research institution, you can usually choose the thermal conductivity meter model based on the working temperature range of our company's different products' hot and cold plates.
